Are we free?
I am grateful for Kevin Seeber's outstanding presentation on the quickly evolving world of publishing and writing. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
With his presentation in mind, please read this article:
http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2009/07/06/090706crbo_books_gladwell?currentPage=all
It is a book review of Free: The Future of a Radical Price, by Malcolm Gladwell.
Please blog on your thoughts and reflections on this article and Kevin Seeber's presentation. Blogs due by class start on Friday, Sept. 7, and should be at least 300 words in length.

Your Personal Code of Writerly Conduct
As a class, we have done a lot of writing and exploration on the topic of ethics and professional writing. This should have given you much to think about in terms of your own ethical princples for communication. Modeling after corporate Codes of Conduct, write one for yourself -- as a writer.
I really like this list from Ben & Jerry's because it is presented as "goals" rather than a code, but feel free to choose a format that fits your personally. (But, please, skip the 140-page long book version.)
Due by Monday, Sept. 3 at the start of class.
